County Fair

My local county fair is finally back! After 2 years of not really having a fair, it was so nice to have it back. While it was not back to full force it was nice to be able to go back almost back to normal. Sadly, this year although there were competitions, they were all virtual which made for an interesting competition. Because the competitions were all virtual this year the categories were significantly less than they were before. I was still able to enter 2 things and had to get a little creative on how entered them. All entries were entered online by submitting 1 photo for each entry. That meant I had to be creative in how I photographed the 2 entries for the fair this year. I was so excited to win 2 first places! I feel like I have to put an asterisk next to these wins because it was all online with very few judges it made it feel less competitive. Don’t get me wrong, I am so proud I won 2 first places, but I would have loved feedback and a more competitive competition even if it meant I wouldn’t have won first place.

Knit picking here, but I was disappointed ribbons away and not rosettes. Previously different competitions came with various forms of ribbons and rosettes. Historically the knitting categories have always been ribbons which I never understood, why couldn’t we get the fancy rosettes like most everyone else? I want a rosette gosh darn it! I was so excited for this year’s competition because even though it was virtual one of the categories I entered typically has the fancy rosettes. I was so very hopeful that because there would be less competitors, I would have a better change of getting a best in show. Well probably because it was virtual, they didn’t do best in show, how rude! In pervious years in order to go to the State Fair you needed to qualify by winning a best in show in your category but apparently, they have changed the rules there too. Now it seems like anyone can enter but they too are also virtual so maybe they will change back to how it was previously, who knows.

Ok enough complaining about ribbons vs rosettes time to move onto the good stuff, my fair entries!
