2021, A Year’s Worth of Knitting

What a crazy year 2021 has been. Although it has been pretty terrible with the global pandemic, climate change, violence and racism there have been some bright spots too. For me both professionally and knitting wise it has been a pretty good year. I have grown leaps and bounds with my knitting confidence. The skills are there but trusting myself to try harder more complex patterns has always been a weakness, well this year not so much. I pushed myself to try new skills and gain more confidence in other skills. I think the biggest thing for me this year was publishing my first pattern. Now that I have started I have so many more ideas line up.

I really pushed myself this year to start a new project the first of the month and finish it by the end of the month. It was quite a challenge, but I did it every month but maybe one. I also challenged myself to knit a The Shift cowl every month and again I was able to complete that challenge. I’m hoping 2022 will be a year where I don’t feel pressure to knit every day and complete as many projects. I love knitting but sometimes it feels more like a chore and that I would rather be creative in other ways like quilting for example.

It’s been fun looking at all my finished projects. Each knit has a memory attached to it, whether that is when I was knitting it or who it was being gifted to. I look forward to what 2022 has in store.
