New Project Blues
Picking a new project can be exhilarating, but also frustrating at times. I am just about done with my Life Savers Cardigan by Tanis Lavallee (blog post coming soon). It has taken me much longer to knit than I would like to admit, and it is time to pick another cardigan pattern. I try to have various projects going at the same time. It is nice to be able to switch back and forth between projects when one is getting boring or I am stuck on sleeve island.
Lately picking a project has been difficult for me. I think it is partly still because I am in a knitting funk, but also because I am slightly overwhelmed by my stash at the moment. I have so much amazing yarn and I’m having a hard time picking what I want to make with the yarn. I have frogged so many projects lately that the thought of winding all that yarn and swatching just to frog later on does not sound appealing at the moment. Projects sound like fun and I get all into them for about an hour and then the excitement fades. It’s really rather frustrating. I have all this yarn already wound from projects I thought I was going to start and then didn’t, and I really hate to wind more yarn if I can help it. I have heard and am not sure if this is true that leaving yarn caked isn’t the best thing for it. So, leaving all this yarn caked and ready to go just sitting there makes me slightly nervous. The problem is none of the caked yarn is speaking to me at the moment. Sigh, knitting problems…
