2020, a Year of Knitting

Well, another year is coming to an end and it is fun to look back and see everything that I have accomplished. This year has been an interesting one for sure and involved a lot of frogging and several knitting funks. Both of which I am not used to, but is completely understandable given the worldwide pandemic we are experiencing. Surprisingly I did not finish as many projects as I have in previous years which is slightly odd because I worked remotely, so I should have in theory had way more time to knit. I am an introverted person by nature so the excuse to stay home was not a difficult one for me and something I actually enjoyed. It did however leave me with a lot of time to over think things and get too much in my own head. Things I didn’t used to give a second thought to, I found I was over analyzing way too much which led to a lot of frogging. Not too many, I probably frogged about 15 projects over the course of the year. Though I also frogged because I have realized if I don’t like something why spend hours and hours of my time knitting something I don’t like and won’t wear. I have several projects I knit early on in my discovery of amazing yarn and patterns that I never wear because I just don’t like how they turned out. This year I wanted to only knit things I enjoyed and would wear.

I did start an amazing garden that took up a lot of my time and spent many hours sewing hundreds of masks for family and coworkers. All of that took time and was fun to spend some days not knitting and give my poor hands and wrists a break.

Regardless of everything going on I did learn a lot and my knitting grew by leaps and bounds. My confidence in colorwork grew and improved as did my brioche knitting. I even dabbled in designing my own patterns and hope to continue and maybe even publish some in 2021. I found some amazing new yarns that I am so excited to work with. I am excited to see what 2021 brings and all the wonderful projects I am going to knit.
